The Antarctic Eggshell White Luminova 35mm pays homage to the very first Antarctic watches, worn by explorers during the U.S. Navy's Operation Deep Freeze in 1955-56. Born in the 1950s and tested in the harshest polar conditions, the Antarctic became a symbol of durability and precision for Nivada Grenchen.

This edition stays faithful to the original design. The softly textured eggshell-white dial has Art Deco arrowhead indexes that glow with warm Super-LumiNova, balancing vintage looks with modern readability. At 35 mm, the 316 stainless steel case recreates the true vintage proportions with contemporary comfort: polished and satin-brushed, only 10.1 mm thick, under a sapphire crystal, with a closed caseback bearing the penguin engraving and the gold medallion.

Inside, the Swiss Landeron 21 hand-wound mechanical movement drives three hands without date and offers a 36-hour power reserve. Water resistance is 5 ATM (50 m). The story

Nivada introduced the Antarctic in the mid-1950s, built on its rugged Aquamatic. The model is tied to the U.S. Navy's Operation Deep Freeze expedition of 1955–56 under Admiral Richard E. Byrd, and Nivada's American ads called it "the watch that went to the Antarctic." Today's reissue keeps the compact case and vintage dial codes and builds them to current Swiss standards.

Nivada Grenchen was founded in Grenchen, Switzerland, in 1926 and relaunched in 2018 by Guillaume Laidet and Rémi Chabrat. Every model is a reissue from the brand's own archives, not a homage.
