Squale Galeazzi Artiglio, Fabric
The Galeazzi Artiglio is a limited edition of 500 numbered pieces created with DRASS Galeazzi to mark 100 years since Roberto Galeazzi filed his diving patent in La Spezia on 25 October 1926. His design, a lighter spherical-zone structure that could withstand extreme pressure, made it possible to work at depths no one had reached before.
Free U.S. shipping on all Squale orders.
The watch takes its name from the Artiglio, the salvage ship whose crew used Galeazzi’s observation turret to locate the wreck of the SS Egypt 130 m down in the Bay of Biscay. In 1932 they began recovering its cargo of gold and silver, the deepest salvage ever attempted at the time.
The standout detail is a functional wet indicator at six o’clock, which changes color if moisture gets inside the case. It revives a safety feature from early professional dive watches. The DRASS Galeazzi emblem is printed on the sapphire crystal above it, so it appears to float over the dial, and the Galeazzi logo is engraved on the caseback.
